Ortur Laser Machines FAQs
What is a flat-type structure?
A flat-type structure can better offset the stress during X-axis movement, suppressing vibration in the X-axis direction for better engraving accuracy.
What are the benefits of a desktop laser engraver?
1. Compact. It's ideal for a home, garage, or small studio.
2. Lightweight. It can be carried out for operation.
How does laser cutting work?
Laser cutting works by a high-powered, highly focused laser beam from a laser generator to pass through the material, leaving a clean cut and a smooth finish.
More clearly, the laser beam heats the surface of the materials to its melting or boiling point while a high-pressure gas aligned with the laser beam blows the melted or vaporized material out of the cut area. As the laser beam passes through the material, it eventually leaves a kerf on the material.
How long is the lifespan of the laser module?
The lifespan of the laser module is about 10,000 hours. After 10,000 hours of use, the laser's power drops by about 15%.
What's more, dirty lenses can cause you to lose the laser power. For cleaning, you can use cotton swabs dipped in isopropyl alcohol or special wipes for optics and photography.
What safety features do a laser engraving machine need?
a) Emergency switch - One press and the whole machine will stop ALL operations.
b) Safety Lock – A Key will lock or unlock the machine. Without this key, no operations will be possible.
c) Movement Detection – Pan, Tilt, Shock, and Position sensors will stop the machine if an abnormal motion of the machine Is detected.
d) Laser Exposure and Duration Detection – If the firmware detects that the Gcode sent to it will have the machine use too much power without being moved, it will immediately stop the laser beam and issue an alert.
e) Voltage & Current Monitoring – The Ortur Laser Master 3 can read, monitor, and detect any abnormal behavior of the power delivery system. A drop in the voltage of excess power requirements from the machine components will result in a machine halt to keep the components safe.
f) Connection detection- A laser engraver cannot lose connection to its host streaming channel. If the connection to the host computer/Device is lost the machine will halt operations.
Why are safety features important and are a good benchmark of machine quality of design?
Simply put, with the recent increase in the power of laser modules, laser engraving machines are no longer toys. They are dangerous machines that need to be respected. Having a machine designed with safety first in mind is an important aspect Ortur pursued.
How to maintain precision in high-speed engraving?
a) High-precision structural parts processed by CNC are required to ensure structural accuracy.
b) High subdivision motor driver IC is required.
c) Requires a 16-tooth synchrotron wheel that is smaller than the diameter of a normal 20-tooth sprocket.
d) Requires a closed-loop belt
e)Needs to optimize the motion parameters in the firmware, especially the relationship between the weight and acceleration of the laser module.
f) Requires an ultra-fine laser spot brought about by the fourth generation of compression technology
What does precision mean in laser engraving or cutting processes?
In the engraving, it can ensure that the gray level of the photo is highly maintained, and ensure that the line drawing is accurately portrayed. During the cutting process, precise cutting at the 0.1mm level is ensured.
Which model should I choose, 10W, 20W, or 40W?
- 10W focuses on fine engraving and cutting.
- 20W focuses on advanced cutting and multi-material engraving.
- 40W mainly focuses on cutting thicker materials and improving efficiency.
If you require high specialization, it's a good choice to buy 20W; if you need to cut thicker material and want to shorten cutting time, 40W is a better choice.
Which is the leading laser engraver & cutter currently on sale?
We recommend Ortur LM3 paired with a 40W laser module, our most powerful engraving and cutting machine.
Machine
Ortur LM3 FAQs
Can the Ortur LM3 truly engrave at the speed of 20,000mm/min?
Yes, it can! This was achieved by using 4 main changes in the product design.
- First, the Ortur Laser Master 3 was redesigned to have its mechanical structure center of gravity as low as possible. Ultimately, there is a substantial reduction in the frame harmonic vibrations.
- Secondly, the Ortur Laser Master 3 is powered by the LU2-10A 10W laser module, which is extremely light and only 235 grams, maintaining high power delivery and cooling performance.
- Third, the Ortur Laser Master 3 motherboard and firmware employ G-code streaming optimization, allowing data transfer to break the old limitations of 6,000mm/min.
- Last, the Ortur Laser Master 3 uses TMC2209 stepper driver chips. These high-performing drivers allow for high torque, silent operation, and no switching homing.
What does the Ortur LM3 20,000mm/min speed engraving mean?
Ultimately it will save time. Combined with the 10w true optical power of the LU2-10A, the Ortur Laser Master 3 can double the work output possible with a Laser Engraver. If you're using a laser engraver on a commercial say, you can serve twice as many customers in the same amount of time. Time becomes actual Money!
For example, it takes 30 minutes to engrave a black-and-white image of about 10cm x 10cm at a speed of 6,000mm/min. The same image engraved at max speed with the Ortur Laser Master 3 can be finished in roughly 10 minutes.
What are the differences between Ortur LM3 and Ortur LM3 LE?
Differences:
1. Different speeds. With the same LU2-10A laser module, the maximum speed of Ortur Laser Master 3 can reach 20,000mm/min; while the maximum speed of Ortur Laser Master 3 LE can reach 15,000mm/min.
2. Different safety functions. Ortur Laser Master 3 has 7 safety functions, emergency buttons, and a child lock; while Ortur Laser Master 3 LE has only 5 safety functions.
Sames:
1. The engraving areas are 400*400mm;
2. They can use the same USB, SD card, WiFi, APP, and U disk link and are compatible with LaserGRBL/LightBurn/Inspiraesth (Ortur App).
How to update a firmware?
Download the latest firmware through the Ortur Firmware Files page.
The firmware is the operating system that resides inside the motherboard of your machine and controls all operations as well as the interactions between the motherboard and the host computer. Under some circumstances, a firmware update is required to improve the Ortur machine's performance or fix discovered issues. In some less common situations, a firmware upgrade might be required to clear issues caused by user error.
How does Ortur LM3 work with the Rotary Roller Series?
There is no need to remove the connections of the Y-axis motor to insert the YRR 3.0 Rotary Roller, YRR 2.0, and YRC 1.0 Rotary Chuck. And with a single-stroke switch, you can make a conversion between the Rotary Roller, Chuck, and the Y-axis motor.
If I have purchased a machine before, can I have the 20W laser module?
Of course, the 20W laser module is available for all Ortur machines. By connecting the OUC board, you can upgrade the laser power individually.
Why does the Ortur LM3 device keep lighting up in red and flashing green? Or does it keep flashing yellow and white intermittently accompanied by a buzzer?
Ortur Laser Master 3 does not detect the SD card, please ensure that the SD card is inserted normally. If it still flashes after insertion, please reinsert the SD card or restart the device to try.
Note: the machine must be inserted into the TF card before use, generally under no special circumstances, do not just take off, so as not to cause the machine lighting display abnormalities, or some carving abnormalities.
